**NOTE**

In-Person Volunteers & Board Members must undergo a background check before they are allowed to start volunteering with us. Minors must have written consent from parent or legal guardian before the process can move forward. Minors must also do a background check. Virtual opportunities may take place anywhere in the USA.

Volunteer Positions

Administrative Assistant (Virtual & In-Person)

  • Computer software to create spreadsheets
  • Manage databases
  • Prepare marketing materials, presentations, reports, and documents
  • Negotiate with vendors
  • Make calls to sponsors/donors
  • Answer business phone
  • Manage emails and social media accounts
  • Prepare electronic newsletters for subscribers
  • May also use videoconferencing, fax, and other office equipment.

Event Volunteer (In-Person Only)

  • Setup/Cleanup
  • Security (we need to make sure the K-9 Unit is not around other animals)
  • Vendor, police, and animal rescue/shelter support. Since no one can leave their booths we need people going around checking on them to see if they need anything.
  • We need volunteers to help with the prayer tent - prayer over the officers and to anyone wishing for prayer.
  • We need team leads and coordinators - help assemble teams and coordinate all the way up until the event.
  • We need people to help advertise the event! Hand out flyers, make calls, post on social media, etc.
  • Planning - we need people dedicated to call, email, make arrangements, etc. to get more K-9 units, rescues, and shelters involved.

Fundraiser (Virtual & In-Person)

General Duties And Responsibilities May Include:

  • Monitor progress of fundraising drives.
  • Develop and maintain media contact lists.
  • Develop strategies to encourage new or increased contributions.
  • Recruit sponsors, participants, or volunteers for fundraising events.
  • Secure commitments of participation or donation from individuals or corporate donors.
  • Prepare materials for charitable events, such as fundraising envelopes, bid sheets, or gift bags.
  • Create or update donor databases.
  • Establish fundraising or participation goals for special events or specified time periods.
  • Explain the tax advantages of contributions to potential donors.
  • Identify and build relationships with potential donors.
  • Monitor budgets, expense reports, or other financial data for fundraising organizations.
  • Attend community events, meetings, or conferences to promote organizational goals or solicit donations or sponsorships.
  • Contact corporate representatives, government officials, or community leaders to increase awareness of organizational causes, activities, or needs.
  • Design or produce materials such as posters, Web sites, or newsletters to promote, market, or advertise fundraising events.
  • Solicit cash or in-kind donations or sponsorships from individual, business, or government donors.
  • Secure speakers for charitable events, community meetings, or conferences to increase awareness of charitable, nonprofit, or political causes.
  • Write and send letters of thanks to donors.

Grant Writer (Virtual & In-Person)

  • Work independently or with a team to develop and implement an annual development plan/strategy to increase annual grant income
  • Develop/write grant proposals to foundations and grant-making organizations, persuasively
  • Communicating organization’s mission and programs to potential funders
  • Assemble/submit grant requests, including letters, proposals, budgets, and presentations
  • Conduct prospect research
  • Report progress in grant research, grant submission and outcome to BBP leadership.

Recruiter (Oklahoma Based)

  • Source and recruit volunteers through various techniques (databases, e-mail, social media etc.)
  • Collect information on availabilities and skills
  • Arrange for appropriate training when needed
  • Produce schedules for everyday activities
  • Assign responsibilities to the right people for special events
  • Coordinate teams of volunteers for large-scale actions
  • Communicate frequently with volunteers to ensure they are satisfied and well-placed
  • Disseminate information for upcoming actions and events
  • Keep detailed records of volunteers’ information and assignments
  • Ensure the purpose of the organization and its actions is clearly communicated

Board & Committee Positions

Committee Director of Finance

The Director of Finance will be in charge of implementing and managing the finance committee (volunteer driven). This group reviews the organization's accounting policies and internal financial controls. It also works with the organization's audit firm, reviews the auditor's reports, and makes the board aware of key risks facing the charity - and the strategies for dealing with risks.


This is a board of directors’ position requiring up to 10 hours of work per week, (please see our FAQ section for compensation details regarding board members). Candidate must reside within a 50 mile radius of Skiatook, OK. 

Committee Director of Fundraising

The Director of Fundraising will be in charge of implementing and managing the fundraising committee (volunteer driven). This group will be in charge of funding our programs, events, outreach efforts, and organization. 70% of our funding comes from donors and sponsors. This is a critical role to ensure we are making the biggest impact possible for our community.


This is a board of directors’ position requiring up to 10 hours of work per week, (please see our FAQ section for compensation details regarding board members). Candidate must reside within a 50 mile radius of Skiatook, OK.  

Committee Director of PERT

Back The Blue Police has put together a task force that raises awareness for officer mental health and suicide. The Director of PERT (Police Endangerment and Reservation Task Force) would be in charge of developing the program to make sure we are doing the most we can to make a positive impact for our community. The PERT Director should have working knowledge of the mental health industry and a go-getter mentality dedicated to making a difference for our law enforcement officers.


This is a board of directors’ position requiring up to 10 hours of work per week, (please see our FAQ section for compensation details regarding board members). Candidate must reside within a 50 mile radius of Skiatook, OK.  

Committee Director of Recruiting Affairs

The Director of recruiting affairs will be in charge of implementing and managing the recruiting committee (volunteer driven). This role will assist other committees in their recruiting efforts along with managing volunteers that want to signup for various events, programs, and committees. The director position will require job description writing for volunteers, the ability to find where assistance is most needed, and matching volunteers to roles that play on their strengths.
